On behalf of Click Book Stay we’re proud to be the first holiday rental business to become accredited for Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism. Setting the standards, supporting the local communities in which we operate and paying fair wages.
Responsible Tourism is about making better places for people to live in and better places for people to visit. it involves everyone; requiring that operators, hoteliers, governments, local people and tourists take responsibility, take action to make tourism more sustainable.
Responsible tourism makes travellers a active part of that community for a short while, as opposed to them just being a spectator. Making meaningful connections with the visited communities is just as important as being respectful of the environment and the local customs.
Travelling responsibly doesn’t only have a positive impact in the destinations and communities we visit, but it also enriches our experiences, leaving us with lasting memories.
Travelling is a way to open our minds to the world and the realisation that we are all different but we’re also the same. And doing it responsibly gives us an opportunity to learn through meaningful connections with local people and to get a better understanding of local cultural, as well as social and environmental issues.
What are CBS doing in terms of Responsible Travel?
- Working with local suppliers where possible (such as cleaning teams and call centre staff)
- Paying fair wages – hospitality / tourism has inherently paid low wages, having most workers on minimum wages and zero hour contracts. CBS pays Living wage and above.
- Using environmentally safe cleaning products and linen in our ‘premier collection’ properties
- Sharing information about local businesses, attractions, activities and events to visitors, encouraging them to engage with the communities they are visiting and to shop local.
