Covid Care – Important – Please Read
We are delighted to be able to welcome guests back to Scotland and N.Ireland after the Coronavirus Lockdown. As you will understand, new cleaning and safety protocols have had to be put in place, to assure the safety of you – our guests – and that of our staff and family.
Click Book Stay Cleaning Charter
To help you understand what we’re doing to keep you safe at our properties, we’ve developed a Cleaning Charter that all property owners & cleaners working with Click Book Stay have agreed to adhere to. This charter not only follows Government Guidance and recommended cleaning protocols, but also uses a badge system to show you what process is being implemented at each property.
COVID-19 can live on some common household surfaces for up to 3 days. Information and knowledge is evolving all the time. Currently it is thought that the virus can live for up to:
- 2-3 hours in the air
- Up to 4 hours on copper
- Up to 24 hours on cardboard, glass and metal.
- Up to 2 or 3 days on plastic and stainless steel.
The cleaning protocols, which were approved by the Government, take into account the length of time the virus can potentially live on various surfaces and we have agreed 2 different options for the properties advertised on our site. Against each property listing we will display a badge which shows which policy the property is adopting. We hope this will give you peace of mind that we are doing everything can to keep you safe. At the same time, it is imperative that we ask all guests to do their own due diligence to help stop the spread of this virus.
OPTION 1: 2-stage Clean & Disinfect
This means that properties don’t need to leave any days clear between bookings and can have guests departing and new ones arriving on the same day. Cleaners will firstly go around the property and complete a regular clean using a household cleaner or hot water & soap, followed by a 2nd stage disinfectant clean with a commercial grade cleaner (effective 99.999% or more) with particular focus on high touch points such as light switches, door handles and remote controls.

OPTION 2: 3 Days Clear Between Bookings
This means that the property will be cleaned to normal standards but the property will also be left empty for 3 days between each booking to allow time for any potential virus particles to de-nature.

Covid Care
While it is reassuring to know that the science now seems to be saying that contracting Coronavirus from touch is low risk – https://on.today.com/2LWcwiA – the advice is still to maintain social distancing, wash your hands frequently (or use hand sanitiser where washing isn’t possible) and use masks when in enclosed areas where social distancing is difficult.
With Click Book Stay, your holiday will be in an exclusive use property and provide a contact-free experience. Guests are welcome to arrive anytime from 4pm on the arrival day, while departure is by 10am on the final day. Between 10am and 4pm, our housekeeping colleagues work to clean their property. Guests and housekeepers do not meet. We will be asking guests to strictly adhere to departure and arrival times.
Keysafe – Self Check-in
Most of our properties use a keysafe system whereby the keys will be in a lockbox at the accommodation (code provided prior to your arrival). We will be carefully disinfecting them along with the door handles, however, it is possible that someone could come to the door (i.e postman etc) after the cleaning team have vacated the property and therefore we would recommend that guests wash their hands immediately on entry.
Kitchenware & Crockery
Inside properties, we will be maintaining high standards of presentation. All kitchenware and crockery will be clean but not sanitised so we will be recommending that guests rewash items in hot, soapy water before use.
Books, Games & Leaflets
Many Click Book Stay properties are equipped with well-loved libraries of books, board games and local information leaflets. We’ll try to keep these available, but as we won’t be able to sanitise each individual item during a changeover, we again ask guests to wash their hands after use.
Access for Staff or Trades during your stay
If, during a stay, there is an exceptional reason why a member of staff or trusted contractor may need to visit your property (for example to rectify an issue in the building), we will inform guests with as much notice as possible and adhere to all government physical distancing rules.
End of Stay Bed Linen Removal
To protect our staff, the industry guidance recommendation is to request guests to strip beds before departure and place bedding and towels in the bags provided. The laundry will then be removed before being laundered, to minimise contamination risk. Please also ensure the bin bags are removed from the cottage and placed in the outside bins. We appreciate that this isn’t the most glamorous end to a relaxing holiday, but we do need to minimise the risk to our staff, so your cooperation here would be greatly appreciated.
Dishwasher
We are required to re-wash all crockery and cutlery between changeovers, which is obviously time- consuming, so it would be really helpful if you could fully load the dishwasher and set it running before leaving. Please leave the clean dishes in the dishwasher, so that we know that batch has been done. Many thanks!
If You Get Ill During Your Stay
If you or a member of your party develops symptoms of Coronavirus during your stay, it is important that you let us know as soon as possible. There is a different set of procedures that applies in the event of suspected actual case of disease at a site that we would need to follow. Government advice if you suspect you have developed the symptoms of Coronavirus is for you and your party to go home and self-isolate there.
We hope that you will have a fabulous holiday. The “new normal” may be slightly different than what we are all used to, but it is great to be able to get away again, and if we all take responsibility for minimising risk, then hopefully we won’t get locked down again!
