New Edinburgh Hot Spots: Places to eat and drink in the Capital
Edinburgh: the place where you could go for a month and still never get around all of the hot places to eat, drink and generally have fun. Food and beverage establishments open and close in the capital on fairly regular basis, so it can be hard to keep up with what’s hot and not. To help you out, in case you were thinking of having a long weekend in the capital in the next few months, here’s a list of some of the places we’ve really been enjoying over the last few months.
Innis and Gunn Beer Kitchen: Do you like craft beer? Do you like amazing cocktails? Do you like wholesome food? Do you like a laid back atmosphere? Then the Innis and Gunn Beer Kitchen on the Lothian Road is for you. One of the most relaxed new places to eat and drink in Edinburgh with great quality products.
Timberyard: Family members Ben, Jo, Abi, Lisa & Andrew & the team welcome you to Timberyard, an authentic brick warehouse with a south facing yard for sunny days & a wood burning stove for colder nights. With ingredients supplied by small, local, artisan growers, breeders, producers, suppliers & foragers and a proper rustic, in the garden feel, this is another place to pop for quality food and a chilled out ambience.
Jolly Botanist: Situated right beside Haymarket this is a airy, bright new gin bar that is the perfect place to grab a casual drink and some nibble with friends. With a great menu, fun staff and happening atmosphere, this is a good place to stop on a weekend out in the city.
Devil’s Advocate: If you like your drinks served with a side of class then the Devil’s Advocate, hidden off the Royal Mile, is the perfect place for you. The Devil’s Advocate is a bar and restaurant situated in the historical and atmospheric Old Town of Edinburgh, in an old Victorian pump house hidden away in Advocates Close.Featuring a mezzanine dining area and a 200 strong whisky shelf, the menu boasts seasonal and Scottish ingredients that change monthly.
Frontier: Love American food? Or just really hungry and want to go all out with a burger and beer? Then this new American style diner is for you. From the creators of MUMS Great Comfort Food, Frontier, the new home for Great American Food, dishes you know and some that you don’t from across a continent full of incredible culinary influences. There’s more to American food than just the burger and fries! We also have a fantastic selection of small batch bourbon, sipping Tequila, imported US beers, not to mention frozen or shaken Margaritas.
