Easy Updates for Your Home
If you have been in the business for a while, you might be worrying your property is in need of a bit of TLC. This doesn't always have to mean ripping out the carpet or buying all new furniture, many updates are subtle but have a huge impact. We have a few of our favourite tips that can be applied to a holiday rental and the family home!
A Fresh Coat
Sometimes all a property needs to be a bit brighter is a fresh coat of paint. Over time, paint can lose its lustre and a freshen up could do the trick. Alternatively, you could inject a splash of colour to your property by painting a wall, or all 4. This update is one of the cheaper updates that has the biggest impact.
A Subtle Change
Many items of furniture that you have in your property will have the original handles that were provided when you purchased the piece. Changing the handles on a piece of furniture will give the piece a new lease of life with a very small change. You can opt for a classic handle or branch out and go extravagant, either way, it is far cheaper than replacing it with a new bit of furniture.
The Easy Swaps
From rugs and cushions to curtains and bedsheets, this update is one of the easiest (and most fun) to bring to your property. Soft furnishings can be stored for another time and even rotated seasonally to add an update to the home that will feel like a huge change.
A Modern Update
If you are updating your property to entice guests into booking, then you might want to take stock of which technology items you have provided for entertainment. Attracting a lot of families? Could be worth popping in a games console of some variety. Live in an area where the rain favours? Have a look at streaming services you can provide guests for the days they can't go out and explore. TV getting a bit old and not accommodating new services? Might be time to upgrade it (and even pop the old one in another room).
See the Light(bulbs)
This one is perhaps massively overlooked. If during the day your property looks incredible, but maybe during the evenings some of this feeling is lost, then all you might have to do is swap out the type of bulb you are using or even get a different style of light. This update will literally brighten up the rooms in your property and can be easily forgotten about.
Switch it Up
This was everyone's favourite as a child, and the cheapest update you can do to a property as an adult. Have a look at your furniture and see what other ways the room can be set up. A different layout, even if it is just switching which side the couch is one, can make your property feel like a dramatically different place, and you don't need to spend a single penny.
As you have read, not all updates to a property need to involve a total overhaul of every room. The best way to update the property is with subtle changes that repeat guests will notice upon their return to the property, and new guests will feel when they first arrive.
