Situated in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife, Bakerswell House is a short walk from the harbours of Anstruther and Cellardyke. Grab something to eat and wander through the historic town taking in the relaxing sea air and breathtaking views across the Firth of Forth. For those who love a spot of golf, the East Neuk of Fife is the perfect place to be. Located centrally to a number of Scotland's famous golf courses including St Andrew's Old Course, Leven Links and Anstruther Golf Course.

The property draws its name from the restored features of a Bakers Oven and Well in the spacious living area. Bakerswell House is a historic property that has been renovated to a high standard with a contemporary finish. The stunning design offers a sleek look which is perfect for every taste. Relax and recoup in the ample living room, with underfloor heating to warm up even the coldest of toes, or sit out in the sun-drenched kitchen/dining area with French doors that open out onto a courtyard where you can enjoy the fresh sea air. The property benefits from a top-quality family bathroom with spa bath, ample storage to meet all your needs during your stay, and a contemporary kitchen with all the amenities required to create the meals of your dreams. The house is split over three levels giving you plenty of space for the whole family.

The house is situated in Cellardyke which is part of the scenic town of Anstruther, there are a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants there. Anstruther is also home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum and, from the harbour, boat trips can be taken for sea angling or sightseeing to various areas of interest such as the Isle of May, a famous nature reserve where you can see puffins! The area is renowned for attracting artists and musicians with open studios and musical events happening throughout the year. For the more active there are the Tennis Courts, Elie Watersports Centre (sailing and generally messing about on the water) and the East Neuk Outdoors Centre (canoeing, abseiling etc) and there are also links directly into the Fife Coastal path offering walking opportunities across a wider area. For the keen golfer, Fife is the home of golf and the Anstruther golf course voted toughest par 3 in the UK by Todays Golfer in September 2007. If that's not enough there are another 45 courses a short drive away, including the infamous Old Course at St Andrews.

"Lovely Stay, Beautiful House, Great Location"

Fantastic house, lots of character, great location. Lovely fish and chips, walks along the harbour. Kitchen had everything you need.

"Spacious, Clean, Modern"

We are in the habit of travelling to Anstruther in a large party (8 persons or so) and on an (at least ) annual basis, so Bakerswell is a house well known to us for its spacious accommodation and modern (and very well-achieved) renovation of an old building.

The house has five spacious bedrooms, the bedlinen is clean and of good quality, the downstairs living room allows for comfortable communal TV viewing, but the heart of the house is the extended modern kitchen, fully fitted with all conveniences and, to to one side and to the top, two different large tables for members of your party to sit according to mood (the long wooden table around which everyone could sit we used for the completion of jigsaws; those around the glass table generally chatted or read). The kitchen leads out on to a modern seating area (and early morning sun-trap - look out for the sparkling redcurrants growing just behind) and garden (yes, we did have a barbeque).

Bakerswell House is well-used holiday accommodation and by a lot of people at a time so you might expect to find the odd sign of wear (actually when we were there it looked as if it had just had a coat of (white) paint from top to bottom), but the house is very well kept, is very comfortable, is nice to come back to and relax in, has plenty of space, has modern bathrooms with pleasingly efficient showers: you will have a good time, and then (like us) you will always be looking forward to when you can stay in Bakerswell again.

"Lovely Property"

This is a lovely property. Mum mother in law has just had a knee replacement and we also had a toddler with us so the staircases did present challenges! The host provided a couple of stair gates which was very helpful. The property is very close to the main street and a short drive from lovely surrounding towns. Would like to go back when it's sunny...!
