Property DetailsPROPERTY DETAILS

Pittenweem is only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife, the coastal town is on the Fife Coastal path and boasts scenic views over the Firth of Forth. Pack up any worries you have and relax in this peaceful retreat where you can enjoy breathing in the sea air.

Watch the waves and live by the sea at House on the Harbour – a beautifully refurbished fisherman’s house within yards of the only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife. See the boats bring in their prawns and lobsters, observe the fishermen repair their nets and experience that special south-facing sparkle of the sun on the waters – all from the comforts of the lounge. Or sit out the back in the sunny, terraced garden with a cup of tea and cast a glance over to Firth of Forth to the Bass Rock. The property offers a spacious lounge which features a glass panelled staircase leading to the upstairs open plan living space which features a beautiful exposed stone wall and stunning fireplace and is flooded with light from the three windows. Head through the French doors and onto the patio, which is ideal for outdoor entertaining. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped, modern kitchen which has a dining space suitable for 8 guests. Original art features throughout the house, with paintings by David Henderson, and a specially commissioned glass panel of Pittenweem life by Kenny Drew.

Access to the downstairs of the house is through the front door with 14 stairs to upstairs. The back door and French windows provide access to the upstairs of the house via a sloping lane.

Local Area LOCAL AREA

Pittenweem has the only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife. House on the Harbour is situated in an area that is steeped in fishing history and even now you can buy fish and seafood on your doorstep. Watch the seals in the harbour with an ice cream. Take a short walk along the beach and you may be lucky enough to see dolphins and porpoise – or even a whale. Or enjoy a boat trip to the Isle of May (National Nature Reserve) – or even North Berwick across the water in East Lothian. House on the Harbour is right on the Fife Coastal Path, and it’s a gentle 40-minute walk to Anstruther to the east or St Monans to the west. The annual Pittenweem Arts Festival (August) has drawn a community of artists and craftspeople to this historic village, with galleries and open studies. The sleepy high street has welcoming cafes, and there are two village pubs. Anstruther, Elie and St Monans also provide a wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafes. For golfers, Fife is the home of golf, with Anstruther course five minutes away, and another 45 courses a short drive – including the famous Old Course at St Andrew's.

Parking The double garage provides off-road parking and plenty of space for golf clubs, bicycles, kayaks etc.

"Fabulous holiday retreat"

A fabulous place to enjoy a weekend away. House on the Harbour is a high spec, fully equipped home from home property set in the small picturesque village of Pittenweem. Stunning views from sun-filled rooms make this an ideal venue to stay when enjoying coastal walks, fishing villages, golf courses and much more. The surrounding countryside is breath-taking with far-reaching sea views as far as North Berwick. A two minute walk from the House on the Harbour sits the small fishing port where one can watch the fishermen bringing in their daily catch. There is a village store, restaurant and pub within a few minutes from 'home'. Home is exactly how it feels a spacious airy space full of wonderful original canvasses painted by the owner - many with local scenes of East Neuk.

"First class accommodation"

Fantastic place to stay. Great size rooms and so much space. Beds ate incredibly comfortable. Furniture is all really high quality. Couldn't fault it in any way. Will definitely be back.

"Would highly recommend"

Nice location in Pittenween Harbour near to a local pub and restaurant. Interesting coffee/chocolate shop on Main Street above harbour - where you can also pick up the key to the cave! Local supermarket in Anstruther about a 10 minute drive. Bus service isn’t bad and stops on main road. Beautifully presented and comfortable property. Well equipped. Great communications from agents. Nice walks on doorstep - Anstruther about 30-45 mins heading east song Fife Coastal Path with Elie to the West.
