Property DetailsPROPERTY DETAILS

Pittenweem is the only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife and is located on the Fife Coastal path and boasts scenic views over the Firth of Forth. Pack up any worries you have and relax in this peaceful retreat where you can enjoy the sea air.

House on the Harbour is a beautifully refurbished fisherman’s house within yards of the only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife. Watch the boats bringing in their haul of prawns and lobsters, observe the fishermen repairing their nets and experience that special south-facing sparkle of the sun on the waters – all from the comforts of the lounge. Alternatively, sit out the back in the sunny terraced garden with a cup of tea and cast a glance over the Firth of Forth to the Bass Rock.

The property offers a spacious lounge which features a glass panelled staircase leading to the upstairs open plan living space which features a beautiful exposed stone wall and stunning fireplace and is flooded with light from the three windows. Head through the French doors and onto the patio, which is ideal for outdoor entertaining. Put your cooking skills to the test in the well-equipped, modern kitchen which has a dining space suitable for seating 8 guests. Original art features throughout the house, with paintings by David Henderson, and a specially commissioned glass panel of Pittenweem life by Kenny Drew.

Access to the downstairs of the house is through the front door with 14 stairs to upstairs. The back door and French windows provide access to the upstairs of the house via a sloping lane.

Please note that this area/property is better suited to having the use of a car.

Local Area LOCAL AREA

Pittenweem has the only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife. House on the Harbour is situated in an area that is steeped in fishing history and even now you can buy fish and seafood on your doorstep. Watch the seals in the harbour with an ice cream. Take a short walk along the beach and you may be lucky enough to see dolphins and porpoise – or even a whale. Or enjoy a boat trip to the Isle of May (National Nature Reserve) – or even North Berwick across the water in East Lothian. House on the Harbour is right on the Fife Coastal Path, and it’s a gentle 40-minute walk to Anstruther to the east or St Monans to the west. The annual Pittenweem Arts Festival (August) has drawn a community of artists and craftspeople to this historic village, with galleries and open studies. The sleepy high street has welcoming cafes, and there are two village pubs. Anstruther, Elie and St Monans also provide a wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafes. For golfers, Fife is the home of golf, with Anstruther course five minutes away, and another 45 courses a short drive – including the famous Old Course at St Andrew's.

Parking:  The double garage provides off-road parking and plenty of space for golf clubs, bicycles, kayaks etc.

"Lovely House, Spacious, Cosy"

Fantastic stay at lovely house. Bigger than we expected and very cosy. The beds in particular were super comfortable. Great range of art to admire on the walls! Perfect location near the harbour and having the use of the garage was very handy. Kids loved visiting the nearby sweetshop (cash only!) Highly recommended and hope to stay again.
