The historical town of Crieff is the perfect spot for a relaxing break to escape to. Surrounded by miles of rolling countryside which instils a feeling of calm that is unrivalled, the town is a fantastic retreat for couples looking for a peaceful weekend out of the city. Crieff has numerous walks and trails as well which will appeal to those of you who like a stroll.  If you are into cycling, you won't be disappointed as there are many routes to explore; cycle to Comrie and up past Auchingarrich Wildlife Park, or head out towards St. Fillans, or cycle to Auchterarder and stop off for cake and coffee! 

Originally designed by the architect William Stirling, who also designed Lecropt Kirk in Bridge of Allan, Locherlour Mill was built over several years and finally completed in 1832 as a flax mill, drawing workers from all over the Highlands. Now that the flax milling era is over, the property has been converted but still retains its rustic charm. Locherlour Mill Cottage is a comfortable and charming
annex of the Mill, a recent conversion offering a very high standard of accommodation with solid, underheated, wooden floors throughout and high spec decor. The spacious, open plan living area has plenty of entertainment options for putting your feet up and recouping from daily stresses. After exploring the beautiful surrounding area, retreat to the luxurious king- size bedroom, which features a large panelled window which lets natural light flood the room. Take in the fresh air in the property's courtyard garden which offers stunning views over the local area, ideal for sitting out in the evening after a long day of unwinding.

Accessibility: As this property is all on one level and there is a walk in shower room this would be suitable for people with mobility issues.


Located just outside the Perthshire town of Crieff, Locherlour Mill offers a fantastic base from which to undertake a variety of things to do from visiting Whisky tasting at Tullibardine & Glenturret (The Famous Grouse Experience) Distilleries to Quad biking at the Crieff Hydro. There is no shortage of history here either, with Crieff being home to Scotland's oldest lending library, InnerPerffray, and only preserved WWII Prisoner of War camp. The Crieff Hydro's 900-acre estate provides a fantastic backdrop for horse riding & pony treks (all abilities catered for), mountain biking, archery and golf, and boasts a 4 star Spa and Sauna for those wanting a little rest and relaxation. While The Club at Gleneagles provides the opportunity to play a little more golf, shoot, fish and try your hand at falconry. Crieff has beautiful scenic walks and no shortage of pubs, cafes and restaurants if you have enough energy left to enjoy them!

"Location, Clean, Comfortable"

Excellent location, immaculately clean and very comfortable. Lots of small and thoughtful touches.

The cottage was lovely. We had a great week staying at Locherlour Mill Cottage. It is very well decorated with everything we needed provided for. We did have trouble getting the tumble dryer to work, the towels came out wetter than they started. Reading the visitors book we weren’t the only ones to have that trouble. It is in a great location and within easy reach of lots of great places.

Perfect for our short stay to attend family wedding near by. Superb accommodation that suited my disabled husband.

Booking Terms 

25% deposit is required to secure the dates with the balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival. Where a booking is made within 6 weeks of arrival then full payment will be required at the time of booking. We accept most forms of payment including bank transfer; all major credit cards and UK issued debit cards. Rental is inclusive of linen and towels, as well as utilities (gas and electricity) unless otherwise stated on the individual property adverts. Fair usage policy applies. All breakages are chargeable. Click Book Stay have the right to charge a fully refundable security deposit.

Cancellation Policy

Once a booking deposit has been paid and the booking confirmed in writing, the Tenant is liable for the whole amount of the rent for the period booked. 

Any cancellations must be made in writing and acknowledged by us.

In the event of a cancellation, the following charges will apply:

  • If notice of cancellation is given more than 6 weeks before your arrival date, 25% of the total tariff is non-refundable
  • If notice of cancellation is given at least 6 weeks prior and no less than 2 weeks of your arrival date, then 50% of the total tariff is retained.
  • Less than 2 weeks notice the full tariff is non-refundable.
  • Where we are successful in securing a new booking, a refund for any dates re-let will be provided.  An admin fee of £50 may apply to cover costs incurred in processing the booking and cancellation.

    Should a booking have to be cancelled as a result of Government Order, Direction or Advice or a Change in Law, excluding weather-related advice, all monies paid less a £50 admin fee will be refunded. Cancellations for any other reason will be subject to our standard cancellation terms.
*Please note, bookings made for our properties via a third party website if cancelled, the refund given will be monies received by Click Book Stay and will not include any additional booking fees/services charges applied by the third party site.

Holiday/Cancellation Insurance

Once booked, the Tenant is liable for the complete Property rental costs.  As such, it is strongly recommended that the Tenant take out suitable holiday/cancellation insurance to cover costs incurred by unexpected holiday cancellation. Booking Protect, which is a cancellation policy, is offered as an option at the time of booking via the Click Book Stay website.  Booking Protect is an independent company and not in any way related to Click Book Stay. (Please note, this section applies to bookings made prior to 27th March 2020).
