Chattan Cottage is one of our wellbeing focused properties that welcomes pets. From the short ferry crossing, to the car free island community, to simply being by the sea, this is a great property to escape to and just unwind.

Accessibility: The island is difficult to access for people with mobility issues, although help can be arranged. The property does not have disabled ramps and rails, although it does have a bedroom on the ground oor and the bathroom is also located on the ground oor.

Property Details

The tranquil island of Easdale is situated just south of Oban on Scotland’s stunning west coast. This small, car-free island is accessible via a three-minute passenger ferry journey from the neighbouring island of Seil and is the ideal location for holidaymakers looking to get away from it all whilst still having plenty of attractions and activities on the doorstep to keep you occupied and entertained.

Chattan was built 20 years ago in the style of the area’s traditional slate quarriers’ cottages and is located in the heart of the historic island setting. Famed for its slate quarrying, Easdale is a charming and fascinating place, where history and the natural environment live side-by-side. Chattan has a modern and comfortable atmosphere, with amenities designed to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. There is a spacious lounge with a wood burning stove, three cosy bedrooms and a kitchen/dining area with patio doors out to the garden at the back which gets the morning sun. Whatever the weather and the season, Chattan offers you a place to relax, unwind and explore.

Well behaved pets are welcome at Chattan.

Accommodation:

The upper floor includes a spacious double and twin bedroom, along with a generously sized bathroom with shower, P shaped bathtub and
under floor heating. Both bed linen and towels are included. The second double bedroom is located on the ground floor next to the comfortable living room with working wood burning stove (with free fuel), Sky Sports TV package, WiFi/Internet access throughout and a selection of games and books. The kitchen is well equipped with a a large range of applicances including; dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and large separate freezer, microwave, ironing board/iron, oven & hob and cooking utensils.

Leading out from the kitchen through south-facing patio doors is the ample garden complete with dining furniture and views across the Firth of Lorn.

Children's travel cot and high chair are available upon request.

Area Situated on the former slate mining island of Easdale, 15 miles south of the town of Oban in Argyll, the island has around 60 permanent inhabitants and has a fantastic sense of community; a warm welcome awaits any visitor. The island's local pub is open all year round and serves a selection of locally brewed ales. The attached tearoom/restaurant is open during the summer months and serves
award winning, locally caught seafood. Easdale is a peaceful and car free island, allowing the visitor unrestricted enjoyment of the natural environment.

There is a network of footpaths and it typically takes around 25 minutes to walk the entire island, which includes climbing the 125-ft hill that offers panoramic views of surrounding islands.

Access to Easdale Island is via a three-minute passenger ferry crossing from the village of Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil. Oban; the gateway to the outer Hebridean islands, is less than
30 minute drive away via the famous 'Bridge over the Atlantic' .This connects the Isle of Seil to the rest of Scotland. A number of supermarkets and other general tourist facilities are available here.

The Easdale Island Community Hall stages regular entertainment throughout the year with nationally and internationally acclaimed acts performing to a full auditorium.

Seafari Adventures offer a number of
high speed boat excursions departing from Ellenabeich, including trips to the world's second largest whirlpool at Corryvreckan with the opportunity to spot some of the local wildlife, which includes; whales, dolphins, basking sharks, white tailed eagles, deer, seals and their pups.
