Location

Locherlour is between Crieff and Comrie. It is rural so bringing your own transport is recommended, however, there are buses that run every hour to take you into Crieff. Alternatively, it is possible to walk from the cottage to the centre of Crieff, but this takes approximately one hour or so to get there (depending on how fast you walk) and the walk takes you through a nature trail through the woods (so remember your walking shoes/wellies).

Originally designed by the architect William Stirling, who also designed Lecropt Kirk in Bridge of Allan, Locherlour Mill was built over several years and was finally completed in 1832 as a flax mill, drawing workers from all over the Highlands. Now that the flax milling era is over, the property has been converted but still retains its rustic charm.

Comrie Croft is just 5 minutes drive, (it can be walked from the property) and has a great farm shop with lots of fresh veggies and local produce, it also has a cafe to sit and take in the views.

Crieff offers a fantastic variety of things to do from visiting Whisky tasting at Tullibardine & Glenturret (The Famous Grouse Experience) Distilleries to Quad biking at the Crieff Hydro. There is no shortage of history here however, with Crieff being
home to Scotland's oldest lending library, InnerPerffray,
and only preserved WWII Prisoner of War camp.

For a special treat, why not try the newly awarded Michelin star restaurant of The Glenturret Lalique.

The Crieff Hydro's 900 acre estate provides a fantastic backdrop for horse riding & pony treks (all abilities catered for), mountain biking, archery and golf, and boasts a 4 star Spa and Sauna for those wanting a little rest and relaxation. While The Club at Gleneagles provides the opportunity to play a little more golf, shoot, fish and try your hand at falconry. Crieff has beautiful scenic walks and no shortage of pubs, cafes and restaurants, if you have enough energy left to enjoy them!
