Location

The village of Killiecrankie situated by the river Garry and is near the Pass of Killiecrankie where the infamous Jacobite battle took place in the 18th century. There is a National Trust visitor centre at the pass, which explains all about the battle and the dramatic ‘Soldier’s Leap’.

There are numerous walks locally and you can see lots of wildlife in the area, including red squirrels, woodpeckers and pine martens, and birds of prey, including hawks, eagles, kites, buzzards, harriers, ospreys, falcons, and owls. For walkers there are several Munros nearby (Carn Liath, Braigh Coire & Beinn A’Ghlo) and the Viewpoints from Craig Fonvuick, Garry Bridge and the Queens View. There are river walks along the Garry, Linn of Tummel (Coronation Bridge) as well as plenty of waterfalls such as the Falls of Bruar.

If you are looking for adventure there is the Highland Fling bungie jump nearby as well as plenty of Water sports on the Tummel, Garry and Tay Rivers, Loch Rannoch, and plenty of Mountain Biking trails with E-Bike hire in Pitlochry and Dunkeld.
