Travelling during the Coronavirus outbreak – part 2

It's true to say that most of us are now worried about the spread of Coronavirus and how it could affect our communities and our wellbeing.  For those who have booked holidays they're wondering if they should still go, for those that were starting to plan, everything has been put on hold.

Now I'm not a doctor, politician or scientist, but from what I can understand the real threats are the ease and how fast the virus can spread.  If it gets out of control too quickly it will put too much demand on our health services and could lead to a shortage of facilities / equipment to support the ill back to health.  Our health services are already stretched!  On the other side, if everything grinds to a halt too soon it will see the economy go into a downward spiral with businesses shutting down and redundancies being common place, and again it's already under a lot of pressure.  So what should we do?

If we're being pragmatic we've got to try and get on with our lives as normally as possible and focus / take care of the things we have actually got control of!   Make sure you protect your immune system by eating good nutritionally balanced food, take vitimin c & zinc and consider a good pro-biotic to support your gut microbiome.  Although it's hard with all the media coverage, try not to get too stressed as stress can have a negative impact on your immune system and don't underestimate the power of good sleep!

For most of us, holidays (be it a short break or a 1 – 2 week getaway) are an opportunity to unwind and recharge from an otherwise hectic, noisy life, and therefore shouldn't necessarily be pushed aside either.  They are good for us and should be part of our own wellbeing plan!

We all have different risk levels we are comfortable with and therefore should use that as a guage for how we approach travelling during the outbreak.  For those who are risk adverse, perhaps don't travel at the moment as you're unlikely to relax and get the benefits a holiday should bring.  Instead book something for later in the year that you can then look forward to.  If, on the other hand, you're of the opinion that it's not in your control and therefore you're just going to get on with life, then chances are you will still benefit from a nice holiday and should continue with your plans but making sure you're implementing common sense measures including thorough handwashing and staying away from large gatherings.

Holiday Lets can offer a good option for anyone looking to get away at this time (or future of course).  And if you're happy to travel but are still a little concerned, then why not look for exclusive use, own door properties (not within a communal stairwell) for more peace of mind, again putting you in more control of your surroundings.  Perhaps stay 'more local', going somewhere you can drive easily to rather than having to get public transport too.

Scotland and N.Ireland, where all of our properties are located, are good choices due to it being easier to find a quieter spot away from high concentrations of people.  If you'd like to discuss potential options just drop us an email at: hello@clickbookstay.com, visit our website where we have live availability: www.clickbookstay.com, or call us on: +44 (0)1738 506211.  And above all, whatever you do, stay safe!
