Travelling during the Coronavirus outbreak
The main word on everyones lips at the minute is 'Coronavirus'. With all the media attention around it (some fake, some real), people are getting into a spin with many resorting to panic buying and cancelling planned trips! The reality though is, that unless we barricade ourselves into our own homes, not letting anyone in or out until this whole thing passes, we could as easily pick up the virus in our own local neighbourhood as we could by visiting somewhere else. In fact, we're often more relaxed in our own surroundings than we are somewhere new, so you could argue that.
We've of course got to be mindful of how fast it is spreading and take precautionary measures to safeguard ourselves and our families, but we've also got to get on with our lives! From all the reports and interviews I've read it seems to come down to simple hygiene and regular washing of the hands (while singing the 'happy birthday' song twice) along with avoiding big crowds where there is more risk of passing the virus. Perhaps, for the interim, travelling to places within driving distance where you can take your own car and be in a bit more control is a good option? Or visiting somewhere that is a little more remote offering a peaceful getaway from the crowds?
Whatever you choose to do, for peace of mind when travelling, it's important that you have insurance in place that covers cancellation under any circumstances. It may also be worth considering a policy giving holiday interruption cover or emergency evacuation cover. It's always worth speaking with a travel insurance specialist who can give you the best advice and options for your trip.
At the time of writing this there have been 18 cases of Coronavirus across the whole of Scotland and 3 in N.Ireland. We are operating all of our acccommodation as normal and will continue to do so unless the Government advises otherwise. The wellbeing of all of our guests, cleaners / caretakers and staff are of utmost importance.
All of our accommodation are offered on an exclusive use basis, so it will only be you and your family / friends staying there for the duration of your booking, they are also mostly in locations away from the crowds, in stunning settings where you can simply relax and recharge and enjoy a well deserved break away from the stresses of modern living! Climb a mountain, walk along a deserted beach, whatever the choice, we've got your back!
